Inauguration of the exhibition: César Manrique. Lanzarote

Taro de Tahíche, César Manrique Foundation.

The mural César Manrique created for the passenger terminal in Lanzarote’s old airport in 1953 is on display for the first time in almost fifty years. The mural captures the essence of rural and seafaring life in Lanzarote with Manrique’s unique colourful and symbolic representation of the island’s landscape and traditional ways of life.

The mural was given to the César Manrique Foundation (CMF) by the Spanish Air Force in 1993. That same year Juan Ruiz Pardo and his team together with staff from the CMF set about removing it from its original location in order to begin the restoration work.

The exhibition can be visited until September 8th 2019.
