Lanzarote’s volcanic nature imprints a magical stamp to the island, which is ideal for trekking and to go on excursions. Its complex geography allows covering paths across inactive craters, natural parks and gullies, all of it by the Atlantic Ocean.
Chinijo Archipelago was declared Biosphere Reserve in 1993 by the UNESCO, and over 40% of its surface is a natural protected area.
But it is probably the Graciosa Island that hides more enchantment for those who want to practice trekking. In la Graciosa, asphalt is unknown and its sand paths are ideal to walk. It is worth going up the mustard color high hill of the peculiar Montaña Amarilla (Yellow Mountain) and find a spot to rest in one of its numerous virgin coves.
If you don’t dare to try it on your own, there are several specialised businesses in active tourism around the area that organise excursions with various levels of difficulty and multilingual guide.
